I hope you are well, enjoying 2016. I have been busy this year compiling the most important tips I use to write documents into tips pages. I am happy to announce that tips sheets on Writing Manuscripts, Writing Abstracts, Writing Posters, and Presenting Posters are available on my website. Some of these tips have been included in previous blog posts on Authorship, Moving Your Project Forward—Review and Revise, Getting Credit for Your Work, Staying Focused-Work on One Part of a Project at a Time, Moving Forward-Scheduling Small Amounts of Time to Work on Your Project Each Week, and Deciding Where to Start.
As I was completing my tips sheets I received the Winter 2015 AMWA journal and noticed the lead article entitled “Editing and Proofreading Your Own Work” by Barbara Gastel, MD. Dr. Gastel provides general information for editing and proofreading your work, including checklists for editing journal articles, grants and consumer articles. Dr. Gastel’s suggestions are a nice complement to my tip sheets and a must read for medical writers.
Together the goal of all of these tools is to help you develop processes to improve your writing.
